Just when Kerrigan Hawkins thought she was free of her abusive, alcoholic boyfriend she ends up pregnant. Michael of course wanted nothing to do with his child. So she decided to raise the baby on her on and she hoped she would be a great mother.
Kerrigan gave birth to beautiful little girl and named her Alyssa. Things were very hard in the beginning. She was just starting her career as an Architect and had very little money.
As time went on, she worked hard teaching her daughter all the skills she would need later in life. She could see that her little girl, even at an early age, was very creative and intelligent. She just hoped it was enough for Alyssa to have a bright future. Michael was in and out of the picture which Kerrigan didn't like because it didn't provide a stable environment for her daughter. It also reminded her of what a bad place she'd been in and the bad decisions she made in her life.
Kerrigan's business was finally taking off. She was able to expand on their little house and finally give Alyssa a birthday party to remember. Even Michael was invited but Alyssa didn't seem too excited to see her father. He had gotten a lot better over time and wanted to be family but Kerrigan refused. There was no way she wanted to be in that deep dark place again. She knew those destructive tendencies were still there and she hoped they would stay buried.
